About Our Pastor

IMG_9787croppedReverend Edwin Mario Brown was born February 18, 1964 in Newark NJ. He matriculated through the Newark school system where he attended Arts High School, a performing arts school. He majored in both art and music vocals. He then attended Seton Hall University where he received an undergraduate degree in Accounting from their Paul Stillman School of Business where he graduated Cum Laude. He has a Masters of Divinity Degree from New Brunswick Theological Seminary where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.

He accepted his call into the ministry in 1995 and he was licensed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ on February 18, 1996. He was called to pastor the First Baptist Church of Ridgefield Park in September 1998 and was ordained and installed as their pastor in March of 1999. He remained their pastor for 3 ½ years until the Lord directed his ministry in another direction. Upon leaving the pastoral position he served as the Minister of Christian Education at the Clear View Baptist Church in Newark, NJ where the Reverend Eric M. Beckham is pastor. He served in this capacity from 2002 until July 2006. On July 31, 2006, he was called to pastor the Progressive Baptist Church of Rahway, NJ. He officially began his pastoral duties August 13, 2006. He was installed as Pastor on November 12, 2006.

Rev. Brown is happily married to Minister Michaia Brown and they have one energetic teenage daughter by the name of Lezah Imani Brown. Most importantly, he is a child of God striving to do His Will for his life. His favorite scripture is Acts 1:8, which says ”But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
